Fam, I Want to Live Forever
Thirty travel journalists are about to embark on a tour of A2 in a quest to get more “fam” with the area (that’s “familiarization,” natch. Obvs!) “Their outlets include AAA Magazine, as well as niche products that cover golf, food and the arts,” reports Ann Arbor Business Review. Golf? Don’t tell them about the Huron Hills debacle! The overarching theme of the tour, though, is — brace yourselves — A2’s “big city amenities wrapped up in a small city.”
Planning the tour was enjoyable for the Convention and Visitors Bureau because “it offered CVB staff the chance to look at the area through the eyes of the writers unfamiliar with Ann Arbor.” Yes, we also enjoy imagining that we’ve never heard of A2.
The title is a bit of a stretch, aaio.

…What is wrong with “Fam, I Want to Live Forever”? aaio’s puns, including the pop culture-related ones, are consistently so skillful that it practically beggars the imagination. (If aaio had put in a jpeg of Irene Cara from “Fame”, that probably would’ve been a little much, though)
Anyone named tom brandt can go soak their head in a bucket of apple cider, if they’d like to! (heh)
posted by David Boyle on October 4th, 2007 at 1:04 pmMost of aaio’s puns are really good, but this one didn’t do it for me.
So now I’m a “they”?

posted by David Boyle on October 4th, 2007 at 1:48 pmBetter make sure the powers that be tear down all the flyers and posters on the light poles. Wouldn’t want the ” journalists” to actually discover there is a culture of home grown artists and musicians in town trying to make things happen here that isn’t UoM based.

[Rip, tear.]
A2 Tour guide says
“Nothing going on here, move along… up next here is another Starbucks, only 20 feet up the street form the last one, and here is the Ann Arbor Art Center. Here we focus only on art that pleases the DDA and Main Street Association.”
right on Grew up maybe we should organize a punk week part2 and some shopping cart races that weekend.

if you’re still trying to make arts happen in ann arbor, than you are either brave or deluded(though that can be a good thing)– long live the Gritty Not Allowed! Grr!
