Those Are Two Pretty Big Ifs

“[I]f you have $3.95 Million and a desire to live in Ann Arbor, then this very well may be your dream home,” writes Autoblog of Bill Ford’s house. It’s even got “a beautiful view of a lake Huron.”

  1. Must be a pretty tall house if it has a view of Lake Huron.

  2. “[I]f you have $3.95 Million and a desire to live in Ann Arbor…

It strikes me that the intersection between those two sets of people is probably much smaller than the sellers might hope.

  3. Too bad the house is in Superior Township. Realtor love to to put the wool over your eyes. There was another listed as Ann Arbor awhile back. It said “first St.” But it was actually near Superior and Huron River Drive east of St. Joe’s.

Funny that a realtor would think AA is a better selling point than “Superior.”

This house is on Geddes, a mile east of Dixboro. Its actually east of AA Township.

False marketing. But maybe that AA addrees will hook em in.

  4. Other great realtor examples:

Walk to campus and downtown (means its near Arborland)
Invest in sweat equity (buy the same house in Ypsi for $45,000)
Easy access to 94 (Gelman Dioxane Plume included)
Upgrades inside and out (Done by the brother in law 10 years ago)
INcludes all appliances (even though they barely work anymore)
Spacious yard (for AA is 30×30)
Immediate occupancy (couldn’t afford the 2nd ARM)
Wooded lot (dead ash trees about to crush house)
Great location (if you work at Fantasy Attic costumes)
Custom Built (by hippie in the 70’s with observation tower)
    Walk to park (duh)

  5. “minutes from Ann Arbor”

    (75 minutes drving)

  6. I’ve also seen the “Old West Side” stretch way over to north of miller - Felch, Gott, Summitt, etc. If you’re a realtor, don’t you have to know the names of the neighborhoods?

  7. And by the way. its Burr Park..

  8. Those are pretty great, Ypsidweller. I’d try to come up with a similar list for apartments, but my sense is that they don’t even have to try to sell those, you just have to take whatever dump you can get.

  9. My favorite is when they call an apartment with a walk-in closet a 2 BR + study, which is meant to imply “not legal, but you could use it as a third bedroom.”

  10. The “Huron River” view that house has is directly across from the WWTP (Waste water Treatment Plant.)

So in addition to yoga room and hot tub, one gets to smell farts when the wind and weather is just right.

  11. But it does have excellent carp and rock bass fishing right in your backyard.

    Priceless.

  12. That house is pretty ugly. Especially for $ 3.5 Million

  13. It may just be for my own amusement, but for perspective’s sake, $3.95 million can get you about 4 beach houses in Pismo, right by the Pacific, minutes from Paso Robles wine country and just south of Big Sur.

Not that anyone would be interested in that.

  14. A late Michigan politician once insisted that he was “a Ford, not a Lincoln.” But these days how many of us in this downsized state can afford to atttain either of those? In addition, a recent newscast announced that Michigan has made official its ban on Mercury. As a result, consumers will lose yet another option, one that was always a good fallback choice during hard times. Time to pull up stakes, leave Dearborn (or Superior) and try our fortunes out West in the promised land of Maquiladora!

(That Superior home for sale should not be too far from a former Geddes residence of Henry the Elder’s security chief. On that particular riverfront property Harry Bennett installed gun turrets just in case union reps dropped by for a visit. Such exuberance eventually earned him relief of his Ford duties, courtesy of Henry the Younger.)
