City Council Drinking Game

Urban Oasis debuts the City Council Drinking Game, with a request for more ideas. But don’t try this at home in its present form; the first rule alone (”When a Public Comment speaker addresses the issue of Palestine, drink”) is enough to get you plastered by 7:50. (During the public comment portion, we like to play the self-explanatory but surprisingly challenging “NIMBY or Palestine?”)

  1. Is there any chance the City Council meetings could actually be shown at Leopold’s?… because that would be awesome.

Getting young people involved in local politics; what kind of councilmember could possibly come out against that? A+.

  2. is it on any locally broadcast channel? i think i still have one of those little portable antenna TVs….

  3. That’s a nice idea, Jen…..and I like the idea of directly injecting politics into a barroom discussion.

We just can’t play the TV at full volume every monday for four hours.

    I hope you understand.

  4. Thought as much, but figured it was worth a shot. :)

  5. Is the broadcast closed captioned?

  6. I don’t think so Dale…… but if it is, then we’d be happy to show it…..we show stuff with the sound off all of the time.

  7. Todd, you should pass out little headsets and have wireless audio in there.

  8. I have no idea what that is, Michael.

How come I’m always the dumbest guy in the room?

  9. Too much beer and gin?

  10. All you need is a lone, trustworthy moderator with headphones plugged into the TV who knows the Internation Sign Language for “drink”.

  11. I move to table further discussion, so as not to impact the neighborhoods. We can then consider an executive recess to evaluate our talking points. …Thank you, and pass the bottle.
