Josh Steichmann has an interesting post at Arbor Update with original reporting on the Ann Arbor Public Schools endangered salamander controversy. Didn’t we totally predict this in 2003?

  1. OT, but for some reason the link to this message in the RSS feed 404s. This has happened earlier.

  2. What I meant to say in that last sentence is that the RSS feed has had bad links to other messages before this one.

  3. JS did a very good job of reporting on the meeting; thanks to him for the informative and interesting report.

  4. Ypsidixit, is that you? Heh. I just had a conversation with EMU regents, and apparently they all read Ypsidixit…

  5. Yikes. But nice to know that the Regents are up to date on the cliffhanger story of my recently-transplanted redbud trees (with photos!)

Thank you, js. If not for your report I couldn’t have obtained such detailed info elsewhere.

  6. Yeah. You’re more popular than you know. Probably because everyone loves your punning latin name… (And you’re welcome.)

  7. Stop talking about that twit Ypsidixit and focus, people, on the topic here: the illegal destruction, contrary to Michigan law part 365 of 451 (1994), of an endangered species’ habitat.

  8. Is there going to be an aaio anniversary post?

  9. speaking of which, it’s worth noting for the record that AAIO’s birthday is coming up May 22; good wishes for the author of this notorious/well-loved blog are in order.

  10. random question: does anyone know ann arbor law on minor in possessions and what the penalty of a second offense is? i know the first one you get the probation/fine but no record thing but does anyone know what the penalty for second time around is?

  11. Hey - happy B-Day AAiO - I’ll buy you a beer when I get back to Ann Arbor.

  12. aw, thanks for remembering my birthday, Ypsidixit! (And my blog-day, A Different Jon!)

  13. The tree clearing started TODAY(5/17) I cant wait to see how much people really care about all this nonsense. By the way those salamanders are great bait LOL!
