Slowcore

You may have been annoyed if you were delayed on State Street today by a large group of very slow walkers, but you may not have realized that they were actually sophomore dance majors participating in an important study: “The Slow Walk is the study of ’slow’ movement in a public area — a sort of sociological and psychological study as well.” The project is preparation for the junior-year Out-of-State Personal Check Payment Attempt When There’s Ten People in Line Behind You.

  1. And I thought English majors were going to have problems getting jobs.

  2. Next time they do it, let’s start another study: “Pushing Annoyingly Slow People the Fuck Out of Your Way.”

  3. What ever happened to Basket Weaving?

  4. Also known as “when road rage hits the sidewalk: motorist conflicts with infuriatingly annoying pedestrians”.

I imagine. I didn’t see it. I just love how pedestrian lights on State/Liberty say “walk” when the cars going across that direction have a green.

(Oh, and it’s *underwater* basket weaving. Therein lies the skill.)

  5. Wow, I thought it was the cough syrup…

Anybody else heard about the Daily plagiarism thing yet?

  6. I saw the headline yesterday. Probably borrowed comments from the internet.

On an unrelated note js, I found out the person who was named “Bez” on another thread (who then insulted you) was NOT the Bez I know. RealBez(tm) was mighty confused when I mentioned it.

  7. I saw the thing about plagiarism, but I have to admit that I’d almost rather have the staff steal from outside sources than read the shit they come up with themselves. I love the controversy over the every three weekly, too…they rip off the onion as frequently as Tara Reid snorts lines of coke.

  8. I have trouble differentiating the sophomore dance majors performing Important Research on State Street from the everyday lackadaisical undergrads lollygagging along as they blab obliviously on their cell phones on State Street.

  9. Frank - Awesome post. I agree. IN networks are in my opinion the demise of driving in Ann Arbor. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to slam on the breaks because some fool on the phone walks right out in front of my car.

  10. Reply to OFWInsurgent from a post that’s been buried. And another things…

Thanks for the info about the Riots. Paybacks — Wendy has been around for a while. She was a fixture back at Heidleburg shows. I’m damn happy that she’s doing well. The Paybacks packed the Double Door when they played Chicago.

Lowertown — So that’s what they’re callig it. The old Broadway Kroger wasn’t that great, but that’s ’cause they had to sweep catfish out of the aisles every other week. It was built on land that is relatively flat and only a few feet above the Huron River. IANAGOJON (I am not a geologist or Joe O’Neal), but isn’t land like that called a plood flain, or someting.

Twin Pits — (look it up) There could already be a multistory parking structure behind Gratzi. People didn’t want it visible from Main Street.

Slow Walkers — Hardly a replacement for the Nude Mile.

Blah, blah, blah. Fuck on your food. Blah, blah, blah.
