Music Has the Right to Butternut Soup
A2 makes an appearance on Slate’s “lamest press releases of the 2004 campaign”. The press release announced that over 150 students attended a Bush rally before the Ohio State game.
Also, butternut soup will fool you.
I have been fooled by butternut soup more times than I’d care to admit. Honestly, who hasn’t?

That phrase has been ringing in my ears for days now. It’s quite haunting. You can say it different ways, too. I prefer a tone of wistful resignation — “(sigh) Butternut soup will fool you …” Sort of like, “Well, what can you do….?” I’m going to do my best to introduce this phrase into 21st c. American English vernacular.
posted by Boris on January 25th, 2004 at 4:51 pmHey, Annarbour is actually on there twice, if you count the University of Michigan at #3.
posted by gyc on January 25th, 2004 at 7:39 pmEven those of y’all who scorn the Ann Arbor Observer will find items of great interest in the issue which just came out.
First, a critical appraisal of the Mayor and the “Green Machine” which pushed the greenbelt proposal.
Second, a profile of City Councilwoman Jean Carlberg, which notes that she is often willing to sacrifice other objectives to increase the supply of affordable housing. The planning commission proposal which AAIO saw go down to “defeat” (lacking six votes on the planning commission) is apparently going forward due to Ms. Carlberg.

posted by Anna on January 26th, 2004 at 9:14 amThanks for the tip. I’m actually not sure where to get it myself. It probably involves leaving my house and actually walking around Ann Arbor.
posted by ann arbor is overrated on January 26th, 2004 at 10:26 pmYou always seem to be able to find it at Border’s.
posted by Nick on January 27th, 2004 at 8:21 amAAIO- Call ‘em up and say that you never recieved your copy. Since you live here, they should drop one off for you.
posted by js on January 27th, 2004 at 9:09 amOr you can come up to the Arrowwood Hills office, and pick one up. They drop off 350 for all the houses out here, but no one ever goes and picks theirs up, so there’s always a pile.

I was so taken with the butternut soup that I missed the part about Bush rocking 0.05% of the UM student vote.
posted by Anna on January 27th, 2004 at 10:47 amI’m also having trouble finding the Current. They never seem to have it around North Campus.
posted by ann arbor is overrated on January 27th, 2004 at 2:31 pmAmer’s always seems to have it.
posted by Nick on January 27th, 2004 at 4:40 pmCurrent should be up at the NC Commons, right in that antechamber near the front desk.
posted by js on January 28th, 2004 at 7:48 amAside from that, the closest place to pick it up would be either Lucky Kitchen or Subway. But Kerrytown should always have copies, over near the Wine Seller.
